Announcing the Arlington MA 2010 Community Collection Day!

In concert with the Arlington, MA EcoFest happening on May 2 (see the post above), a Community Collection Day for Arlington will be held on Saturday, May 1 from 9 AM until 1 PM.  Get in the mood for the EcoFest by donating any of the following on Collection Day (drop off location is the DPW Yard at 51 Grove St., Arlington):

  • TV/CRT Collection – $10 fee to dropoff or $15 fee for curbside pickup
  • Free propane tank drop-off (20 lb limit)
  • Paper Shredding – you can drop off up to 2 boxes of paper for shredding
  • Big Brother/Big Sister Foundation – donate clean clothing including jeans, linens, and small household items
  • Little Fox PTO Thrift Shop – will be collecting children’s books and toys (in good condition, please!)
  • Got Books – will be accepting books, VHS tapes, DVDs & CDs for the Stratton School PTO
  • Bikes Not Bombs – you can donate old adult bikes (not rusted, naturally!) and a $10 donation will be requested to help cover the cost of shipping bikes overseas
  • Metal Recycling – bring old pipes, ples, metal shelves, file cabinets, metal bed frames and other metal for recycling (no appliances, sorry!)
  • Arlington High School SAVE Club – will be collecting returnable bottles and cans
  • Arlington Recycling Committee – will be distributing Uncle Sam Recycling Bags and RECYCLE labels
  • Arlington Board of Health – will be collecting old prescription drugs, needles, and syringes

This is a great way to get rid of some old clutter in your house (maybe before putting it on the market? <smile>) and do some good to help others at the same time.

From past experience, I suggest you plan on arriving early and spending some extra time there, as there can be quite a crowd!  But it’s a worthwhile cause and hey, you’ll feel good doing it!

If you’re then in the mood to volunteer with some local Arlington, MA non-profits, you might want to start by searching my list of local Arlington MA non-profits on my CyberGreenRealty.com web site.

Until next time, Peace!
