With the second blizzard of the season now bearing down on us in Arlington, MA, I think it’s a perfect time to close the blinds, ignore the snow, and start thinking about next summer’s Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm share programs. To that end, the Arlington Community Supported Agriculture Fair has announced their upcoming schedule of 2011 Fairs. These events are a great place to meet with your local farmer’s (or fishermen or even beekeepers!), learn about their various programs, and sign up for your (fair) share.
The CSA Farm Share organizers have released the following statement:
“The CSA Farm Share Fairs held last February in Arlington and Cambridge were a big success! The crowds were huge, the excitement was high, and within only a few hours many shares were sold. This year we’re improving things by expanding the hours, creating more space for people to mingle and talk, and sharpening the focus of the event.”
Two Farm Share Fairs will be held this year:
Arlington CSA Farm Share Fair
Thursday, February 24, 4:30-7:30 PM
Park Avenue Congregational Church, Arlington Heights, 50 Paul Revere Road
Cambridge/Somerville CSA Farm Share Fair
Thursday, February 3, 5:30-8:00 PM
The Democracy Center in Harvard Square, 45 Mt Auburn Street
I attended the Arlington CSA Fair last February and had a wonderful time. Not only was it incredibly well-attended, but the available information and education was amazing. I learned so much about beekeeping, I’m still thinking about honey. So do yourself a favor and plan to attend one (or both!) of the fairs. You’ll be glad you did!
Until next time, Peace!
